Waste isn’t the end. It’s where we begin.
As both a culinary enthusiast and a textile practitioner, it felt natural to begin exploring the creative potential of kitchen waste. Inspired by age-old zero-waste traditions from India, Peel Studio is a space where experimentation and nature collide—where banana peels, eggshells, and avocado pits are transformed into tactile materials and woven stories. Rooted in sustainability, the studio invites reflection on what we throw away and what we choose to cherish.
It all began at the Royal College of Art cafeteria.
The process is rooted in slow, intentional making—transforming kitchen waste into materials that hold memory, care, and resilience. At Peel Studio, every textile starts with what most would throw away.
A textile artist and educator based in London, Yahvi turns kitchen waste into handwoven textiles at Peel Studio—her home and lab. Rooted in zero-waste traditions from her childhood in India, her work invites a slower, more thoughtful way of making and living.
