Meet Yahvi
Yahvi is a textile artist and educator based in London. Peel Studio is born out of her interest in both culinary arts and textiles, which led her to transform kitchen waste into tactile woven textiles. She defines Peel Studio as both her home and her laboratory. Her practice is rooted in the traditions of zero-waste living she grew up with in India, reimagined through a contemporary lens. She draws deep inspiration from everyday materials—reconnecting with nature and embracing slowness in a fast-paced world.
Her Journey
Yahvi earned her MA in Textiles at the Royal College of Art, London in 2024. In 2021, she completed her Bachelor’s degree in Textile Design from the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), New Delhi (2017–2021), where she spent time documenting traditional crafts and learning from artisans across India.
Yahvi was selected for Green Grads in 2024 and 2025, showcasing her work at prominent shows in the UK like The surface design Show 2025. She was also an empaneled natural dye expert with AIACA, reflecting her commitment to sustainable materials and craft-based livelihoods.
In India, she led skill development projects across remote craft clusters, introducing natural dyes. One of her most impactful projects was with Khwaab, a nonprofit that supports women from low-income communities. She helped artisans develop sustainable products, introduce natural dye processes, and launched a face mask venture during the pandemic—providing income for families and reaching customers worldwide.
Why it matters
Her work is about slowing down, making with intention, and returning to what’s essential. She wants to invites people to rethink their relationship with materials—and to see waste not as an end, but as a beginning. Each piece becomes a quiet call to live more consciously, create with care, and honor the resources around us. Whether through workshops, exhibitions, or tactile storytelling, her mission is to spark connection—between people, places, and the things we too easily overlook.
Her Vision
Yahvi sees textiles as a medium of connection: between people and materials, craft and ecology, tradition and innovation. Through Peel Studio, she hopes to foster a collaborative craft community that empowers makers—especially women—to shape sustainable futures.
